Big Bend National Park, in the Chisos Mountains of west Texas, is the place you never expected.  It is rugged and beautiful with a character as big as the state of Texas.  Texas doesn't do small and with 801,000 acres Big Bend is no exception.  On this trip you will have a chance to explore beautiful canyons and wide open desert.

For this trip we will stay at the eclectic Kushala. This beautiful property epitomizes the style of the west Texas deserts and is a prime location to get to the trails. You will have a private room for you and one other guest and plenty of common space to relax with friends.

Celebrating with friends at the high point of the park in Emory Peak.

Despite being one of the largest NP’s in the lower 48, Big Bend typically receives far fewer visitors than parks in neighboring states. That means that you can enjoy the majesty in of the park at your leisure.

This weekend trip starts on Friday and ends on Monday.  We will spend Saturday and Sunday exploring the trails of the park.  We can go to the high point in the park in Emory Peak at 7,825' or check out the dramatic drop off of the Window or the canyons of the Blue Creek Trail. The adventure we choose will depend on the groups skills and interests. In general, we will hike 8 - 10 miles per day with 1,000 - 2,000 ft of ascent.

Safety

Client and crew safety is the most important priority for any Top Out Adventures trip.   We will take every precaution possible to mitigate risks and be prepared in the case of an emergency situation on the adventure.

Mitigation Precautions:

  • A trained first responder will be on the crew

  • All clients will be given a route briefing the day before and a printed map with contact numbers

  • Crew members will be carrying GPS spot trackers with SOS buttons

  • Crew members will be carrying 2-way radios

  • Home base crew will be tracking progress of the crew GPS trackers and will be able to contact Search and Rescue if needed.

The biodiversity of this park is astonishing; everything from sub-alpine to desert!

Our chefs will provide delicious and healthy family style meals to fuel your adventure. We will prepare breakfast and dinner at the house each day.  We will have food available for packing lunches on the trail and snacks around the house.
